So, I am looking for a car very soon. It has to be auto, get decent gas mileage, respectable to look at and drive, and have a warranty.

I have seen that Buick Verano’s fit most of these requirements, and depreciate like crazy! Meaning I can get a killer deal on a CPO car, like this one: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Anyone have experience with these guys? I drove one, and seems pretty decent overall... How is reliability and real-world MPG with these guys?

Thanks!

It’s a very nice Chevy Cruze. You can get one with a turbo and stick, so there’s that.

Why not just get a Cruze for less money?

Parents have had one for about a year. Dad got his base 2012 for about $12,000 on the road with about 25K on it. They’re not unpleasant, bigger than you would expect, and while it is still a Buick (aka not a sportscar), it’s not embarassingly gutless or bad to drive, even with the NA 4 banger.

Gas mileage is good on the highway and seems to be OK in town, I know there was a suspension issue that required recall work, but I think that’s been the only major issue.

Pretty cool. Very small interior space. Like Party-vi said, it’s a nice Cruze. In similar segment as Acura ILX. But you can get a good deal on a Verano.

Yeah, it’s just a Cruze with a different body and fancy interior. I love my Cruze so I imagine a Verano is even nicer. One of the nice things I noticed is the better engine options. The Cruze gets a 1.8L NA base and 1.4L Turbo optional. The Verano gets the 2.4L base and 2.0L Turbo optional. Should be a nice performance bump. I’d go for the Turbo if I could afford it, but the 2.4L should be decent.

Better engines in the verano, apparently.

Wow. Did not realize those were that cheap secondhand.

As for the car itself, nice interior, mid-size motors in compact body so not painfully slow, and as far as I know both the 2.4 and 2.0T are reliable.

But, for only a little more money I’ve seen Regals, and while the Verano is nice, the Regal is better.

It’s a fancier crude with worse ergonomics and feels just as cramped. A Mazda3 Grand Touring, Ford Focus Titanium, Mini Cooper/Countryman, or Acura ILX are much better premium-compact FWD cars. Also consider the Lexus IS250 and HS250h.

I second everyone saying its cramped. I know it's just a fancy Cruze so I should've expected it, but it is way smaller inside than it seems from the outside.

Thanks for the feedback. Decision made, not getting this car. May keep an eye out for a Regal turbo if it pops up in the same price range...but not to Verano.
